NHL Season Predictions

As the 2009-2010 NHL season starts, I wanted to take some time to preview the season with some predictions.

5 Bold Season Predictions:

1. The Phoenix Coyotes will start in a slump and make a mid-season surge to make the playoffs. Dave Tippet ALMOST got the Stars to a playoff spot last year even with his captain (Brenden Morrow) and top scorer (Brad Richards) out for most of the season from injuries. Coach Tippet has not had much time with the new crew, but his coaching style fits this team well and we should see the Coyotes come late May and early June.

2. Speaking of Morrow and Richards, the twosome will be back in the starting line of the Dallas Stars and, with the help of Steve Ott, Mike Modano, James Neal, Stephane Robidas, (need I go on?), the Stars will be a frontrunner to dethrone the Redwings in the Western Conference.

3. Sharks make an early exit to an underdog. Again.

4. Redwings are in the Western Conference Finals. Again.

5. The Penguins will win Lord Stanley's Cup.
