Brown Firing Just Another Reach for Cavs

Mike BrownAfter five seasons on the job, Mike Brown has been fired as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite failures by the front-office to bring in extra star-power to play alongside LeBron James, the team made Brown the scapegoat for playoff exits after being the championship favorite for two straight seasons.

With the impending potential free-agency of LeBron James, the franchise continues to baffle fans with the same philosophy they've used to try to appease James in the past: bring in a few borderline players and hope that James is foolish enough to believe the moves make the team better.

With the firing of Brown, the franchise is trying to convince James that he can virtually hand-pick a coach, yet the team will have a difficult time convincing anyone, James included, that firing Brown was the right move.

In the recent past, the team has reached on players such as Larry Hughes, Mo Williams, and even Shaquille O'Neal in an attempt to convince LeBron that the rest of the roster is stacked to win. Basketball fans have never bought the idea, and I'd be shocked if LeBron did either.

The firing of Brown was not only foolish, it likely set back a franchise even more than it needed to be since LeBron basically checked out of Cleveland in games 4 and 5 of the conference semi-finals.
